San Antonio, TX April 2011 A podiatric surgeon certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics & Medicine has successfully completed an in depth credentialing and examination process and has demonstrated knowledge of podiatric surgery, including the diagnosis of general medical problems and surgical management of foot diseases, deformities, and trauma of the foot and ankle and related structures. "A written examination must be taken every 10 years to evaluate their current level of knowledge." Dr. Nichols is currently recertified in his Boards. Dr. Nichols and his wife, Mariann moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the Metroplex in 1985 setting up his first office on Main Street in Grapevine, Texas. A couple of years later he outgrew his office and moved by Baylor Medical Center as a foot doctor in Grapevine and opened another office in Keller, Texas to better serve his existing Keller patients. Dr. Nichols and his wife worked round-the-clock to accommodate his growing practice, making sure every patient was cared for even if it meant coming in after hours to set a fracture or tend to an infected toenail. They both immersed themselves into the community to meet the people and contribute to its growth. Dr. Nichols and Mariann now reside in Grapevine, Texas. They have two successful grown children and four grandchildren.

They are very active in the Northeast Tarrant County communities by assisting with various needed fundraisers over the past 23 years. In December of 2000, Mariann was diagnosed with breast cancer, which created a personal epiphany that began a strong campaign for awareness and participation to find the cure. The Nichols became spokespersons, publicly speaking about the disease and how it has impacted their lives. Mariann soon originated the cancer support group at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine. They have held charity events in their home and in October, 2001, they hosted and paid for a dinner and public auction for Baylor Cancer Research collecting over $18,000 in contributions. Today, Mariann is cancer-free, but her heart still promotes her forward to find a cure, along with Dr. Nichols. Our goal is to achieve a level of effective patient-centered foot and ankle care that you would be proud to receive.

To that end, we want to deliver the highest level of care by delivering the highest standard possible.  Our services embody these guiding principles: problem solving; our ability to render the best treatment; our attitude; compassion; communication and teamwork. Dr. Nichols is devoted to helping his patients regain pain-free walking. A lot of problems can be fixed in one visit. Dr. Nichols' philosophy of conservative care means he'll try treatments that can help relieve pain for many patients before resorting to cutting edge technology for surgical intervention. Surgery isn't the answer for everyone. Although, if surgery is indicated, advancements in the field offer a whole new set of options.
